Apparently, October has decided subtlety is overrated.

I have two new covers to show you this month, news about a project that has grown considerably since the last time we talked about it, and an invitation for my fellow writers to join me for a challenge this fall.

So pour something appropriate for the season, and let’s start with Rising Tides.

🌊 Cover Reveal: The Siren’s Kiss

Sophie Bright and her friends are heading to Key West for what should be a celebration.

Her friend Hal has spent years hiding behind the wildly successful romance-author persona Desiré Everleigh, and now Desiré has been nominated for one of the genre’s most coveted honors: the Siren’s Kiss Award.

So Sophie and her Rising Tides family travel to the Conch Crown Resort for a Valentine’s weekend filled with author panels, parties, old rivalries, and a glamorous awards gala at the Hemingway House.

Then someone dies.

As suspicion begins to circle, Sophie is pulled into a mystery tangled with publishing politics, long-held grudges, carefully guarded secrets, and the life Hal has worked so hard to keep separate from his own.

For Hal, the nomination is something far more important than applause or pageantry. It is validation that the stories he has poured himself into matter.

The last thing he wants is to become part of the spectacle.

And as Sophie searches for a killer, protecting Hal may mean protecting more than his reputation. It may mean keeping the identity of Desiré Everleigh from becoming the convention’s biggest story.

The Siren’s Kiss is Book Three of the Rising Tides Mysteries, blending paranormal mystery, found family, slow-burn romance, and the strange magic of the Florida Keys.

Publish Date: January 11, 2027

Pre-order available October 1, 2026.

🔥 Remember That Old Manuscript I Pulled Out of Storage?

Last month, I told you that I had reopened a manuscript I first began during the COVID quarantine.

At the time, it was called Embers of Skye.

Well…

I may have opened an old door and discovered an entire hallway behind it.

As I worked through the final revisions, I realized this story was never really a standalone. The world was larger than one book, the mythology had farther to go, and Terra’s story was only the beginning.

So Embers of Skye has a new name:

The Burning Legacy

And it is now Book One of the Solasta DĂ n trilogy.

The story itself is still the one I introduced last month: a contemporary urban fantasy that begins in modern-day London and travels through the Black Forest, a hidden compound in the Italian Alps, and ultimately to the Isle of Skye.

Terra has spent most of her life believing that the voice she hears in the back of her mind belongs to an imaginary friend she never quite outgrew.

It doesn’t.

The voice belongs to a trapped goddess.

And Terra is about to discover that her family history and an ancient legacy of fire are connected to a conflict that has been waiting for her far longer than she realizes.

The difference is that now I can finally tell the story at the scale it deserves.

The Burning Legacy is available for preorder now and will be released November 17, 2026.

I’ll have much more to share about the world of Solasta Dàn over the next several weeks, including some of the mythology behind the trilogy, the places that inspired it, and perhaps a few glimpses of what comes after Book One.

✍️ Writers: Come Join Me for Novel 90

And while I’m preparing books for publication, I’m also getting ready to write another one.

This fall, I’ll be participating in AutoCrit’s Novel 90 Challenge, and if you have a novel rattling around in your brain demanding to be written, I would love to have you join me.

Novel 90 is exactly what it sounds like: a community writing challenge built around making serious progress on a novel over ninety days.

I have a particular fondness for these challenges because the last time I participated, things went rather well.

I was the Grand Prize Winner of AutoCrit’s Summer 2025 Novel 90 Challenge.

That still feels slightly surreal to type.

But the real reason I enjoyed the challenge wasn’t the prize. It was having a reason to show up consistently, surrounded by other writers wrestling with their own plots, characters, deadlines, brilliant ideas, terrible ideas, and occasional declarations that their entire manuscript should probably be launched directly into the sun.

Just as importantly, the Novel 90 team coaches brought a tremendous amount of encouragement, guidance, and expertise to the process. Having experienced writers there to answer questions, offer perspective, and keep everyone moving forward made the challenge feel much less like ninety days alone with a blinking cursor.

This time around, I’ll be writing with Team Planner.

So if you decide to join me for Fall 2026, send me a friend request once you’re inside. We can cheer each other on, compare word counts, untangle plot problems, and, when necessary, suffer together in the grand literary tradition.

You know. Writing.

If you have been waiting for permission to start the book, finish the book, resurrect the abandoned book, or finally deal with That Chapter you have been avoiding since March…

Consider this your invitation.

Come write with me.

Between The Siren’s Kiss, The Burning Legacy, and whatever emerges from Novel 90, the next few months are going to be busy ones around here.

Fortunately, I have coffee, tequila, an unreasonable number of research tabs open, and absolutely no intention of behaving sensibly.

Until next time,

Tegan
